All Time Low - Sound of Letting Go Tour Review
On Sunday September 17, The Fillmore in Philadelphia welcomed All Time Low for a sold-out show on their Sound of Letting Go tour! The lineup is stacked this tour as All Time Low is joined by Lauran Hibberd, Grayscale, and Gym Class Heroes. A line of eager and dedicated fans wrapped around the block as they prepared for a long and exciting night ahead of them.
Up first was Lauran Hibberd. Based in the UK, this tour celebrates Lauran's first time in the US, and is making sure the American crowds don't forget her name...literally! Lauran engages with the crowd in call and responses, having the crowd repeat her name back to her, and telling stories about how surreal it is for her to be on a US tour. Lauran opened her set with Bleugh, Honda Civic, and Mary. Her energy filled the room as her beautiful and strong vocals soared. She ended her set with a cover of Gwen Stefani's Hollaback Girl, That Was A Joke, and a new single, I Suck at Grieving set to be released on 9/21!
Next to take the stage was local Philadelphia band, Grayscale. Being that this was their hometown show of the tour, Grayscale made sure to bring the energy. I've seen Grayscale numerous times, and each time they continue to raise the bar. Their set began with their latest single Not Afraid To Die, released on 9/8. Their set continued with In Violet, Painkiller Weather, Dirty Bombs, and Motown. Grayscale's stage presence is always captivating, and their chemistry as a band is undeniable. Frontman Collin Patrick Walsh does an incredible job engaging with the crowd, and they are always a joy to experience. Their set ended on a strong note, with Babylon (Say It to My Face), Just Right, and my personal favorite, Fever Dream.
Last but not least, it was time for Gym Class Heroes to take the stage! The group of 6 took the stage with power and confidence, as they began their set with Kid Nothing and the Never-Ending Naked Nightmare, Peace Sign/Index Down, Cupid's Chokehold, and Stereo Hearts. The crowd sang along to almost every word as the entire groups presence and interactiveness engaged the crowd from start to finish. They created an atmosphere that was so much fun to be apart of, making each audience member feel valued. They continued their set with Billionaire, Loved Me Back to Life, Clothes Off, and Stop It.
Finally, at around 9:15pm the lights went low and All Time Low took the stage. I've seen All Time Low a number of times over the years, but this tour was one of the best yet. From the setlist to the production, there is not a single thing I would change. The crowd erupted in cheers as the lights went up revealing a detailed stage design with intricate visuals and LED signs as they began their set with Lost In Stereo, Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don't), and Six Feet Under The Stars.
As they continued with Sleeping In, Heroes, Fake as Hell, and PMA, lead singer Alex Gaskarth and guitarist Jack Barakat discussed their love for Philadelphia, and how Philly shows always feel like home. The intricate visuals changed with each song, adding another layer of depth to the performance. Their set went on with The Sound of Letting Go, and Calm Down, before getting to a part in the show where they allowed the audience to vote on a song! The winner for this show was Kids In The Dark, before they carried on with Weightless and Monsters.
As the night came to a close, the energy level stayed at a high. The encore consisted of Sleepwalking, Coffee Shop Soundtrack, and of course, Dear Maria Count Me In. As I stated previously, this was one of the best performances I've ever seen from All Time Low. The depth of the performance and chemistry between the band kept fans engaged and off of their feet the entire night. The Sound of Letting Go tour only just started, and is set to continue through mid-October, so make sure you get out to see a show in your city!
